“Alberuni came close to saying, in his eleventh-century book that while many things (like mathematics and astronomy) were admirable in India, nothing impressed him as much as the Indians’ ability to speak eloquently on subjects on which they knew absolutely nothing.” Amartya Sen (2008)
Hello! I am an Assistant Professor in the Economics Department at Ashoka University. My research interests are political economy, public economics and applied microeconomics. My dissertation project, completed at Yale University, examined the effectiveness of the deliberative institution of “Gram Sabha” in Indian village councils.
I have been co-organizing a webinar series with Aaditya Dar (ISB Hyderabad) called SAMVAAD (Seminar in Applied Microeconomics – Virtual Assembly and Discussion). To know more about other such initiatives that I have been associated with, see my Service page.
